Next Wednesday, July 24th, marks the 99th annual Chincoteague Pony Swim. For those who might not know, the pony swim was made famous by the novel “Misty of Chincoteague”, a classic children’s novel by Marguerite Henry about a wild pony and two siblings who befriend and care for her on the island. Every year people will gather to watch the ponies swim from Assateague Island to Chincoteague Island.
